About the JPG to PNG Converter
Converting JPG to PNG is useful when you need a lossless copy of an image — for example when working with logos, graphics with text, or images you plan to edit further. PNG preserves every pixel exactly, while JPG uses lossy compression that permanently removes some image data.
Note that converting a JPG to PNG cannot recover quality that was already lost when the JPG was created — it creates a lossless copy of the current state of the image. PNG files are typically larger than JPGs, especially for photographs.
When to convert JPG to PNG: when you need to edit the image further (re-saving a JPG repeatedly degrades it each time), when the image contains text or sharp edges that JPEG compression blurs, when you need a transparent background for layering in a design tool, or when you're preparing an image as a source asset that will be processed further.
When JPG is the better choice: photographs destined for the web or social media, images where file size matters more than pixel-perfect quality, and any image that will only be viewed and never re-edited. For a brand logo, icon, or UI element with a transparent background, PNG is always the right format.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG won't recover detail lost in JPG compression. It's lossless going forward — no further quality loss from re-saving — but it can't restore what JPG already discarded.
Will the PNG file be larger than the JPG?
Usually yes. PNG is a lossless format and typically produces larger files than JPG. Photos with many colors tend to be much bigger as PNG.
Is transparent background preserved when converting?
JPG doesn't support transparency — any transparent areas were already filled before you got the file. The PNG output captures exactly what the JPG shows.
Can I convert multiple JPGs at once?
Currently one image at a time. Each conversion is instant so converting several files in sequence is quick.
