About this Word to PDF converter

This tool converts .docx files to PDF entirely in your browser. Upload your Word document, check the content preview, then click Download PDF — your browser opens a print dialog where you select “Save as PDF” as the destination.

The most common reason to convert Word to PDF: you need to send a document and want to make sure the formatting doesn’t break on the other end. PDFs display identically on every device. Word documents can look different depending on the fonts installed or the version of Word the reader has.

Other reasons include attaching a CV that shouldn’t be editable, submitting a form that only accepts PDF, or archiving a document in a format that won’t change.

Only .docx is supported. If you have an older .doc file, open it in Microsoft Word (or LibreOffice Writer, which is free), then save it as .docx before uploading. The tool uses the open-source mammoth.js library to parse the Word document structure and jsPDF to render it as a downloadable PDF.

Your file is never sent to any server — the entire conversion happens locally in your browser tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it support .doc files, not just .docx?

Only .docx is supported. If you have an older .doc file, open it in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer (free), save it as .docx, then upload that. The conversion takes seconds.

Why might my formatting look slightly different in the PDF?

The tool uses mammoth.js to parse Word document structure, which handles common formatting well but may not reproduce every detail — custom fonts, complex tables, and advanced Word features can render slightly differently. For perfect fidelity, use Microsoft Word's built-in Export to PDF.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no enforced limit, but very large .docx files (50 MB+) may be slow to process depending on your device. Most documents — even long reports with images — are well under that and convert quickly.

Can I convert a Word document that contains images?

Yes. Images embedded in the .docx file are included in the converted output. Complex image layouts like text wrapping and precise positioning may render slightly differently, but inline images typically carry over correctly.
